Oakland is a unique and charming little town in southwestern Oregon just 2 miles off Interstate 5. The two block business district consists of the original brick buildings built in the 1890's. Stearns Hardware, for example,has served this community since 1887! Over 80 properties here were constructed between 1852 and 1890.

Oakland was the first city designated in Oregon to be placed on the state Historic Register in May of 1968. Oakland was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in March of 1979.
